Series 7000 comprises 222 carriages.
The body of the series 7000 units is made of aluminium, including the chassis, and they have
four doors on each side for passenger access/exit. The carriages have an interconnecting, interior
continuous passageway and are joined in sets of six.
The series 7000 units are equipped with air-conditioning and heating. They have auxiliary
systems control equipment, equipment to record safety parameters during operation, and a passenger
information system. They also have a video-surveillance system, as well as a public address system
and digital radiotelephony. Likewise, they are equipped with ATP and ATO systems.
The most important new features in the series 7000 (and also in the 8000) within Metro de
Madrid's rolling stock are: the fire detection system and extinction system using water mist, the
lateral evacuation steps, a video entertainment system, the interconnecting passageway between
carriages, the panoramic cabin without a door at the front, the photoluminescent signs, digital
radiotelephone, the automatic train protection (ATP) system, the body and chassis manufactured in
aluminium, and the use of 600 V and 1,500 V line voltage.
