Metro de Madrid

The aim of Metro de Madrid as a metropolitan transport company is to satisfy the mobility needs of society with a quality service that is compatible with the Environment, contributing to the sustainability of its geography.

This is why Metro de Madrid retains an Environmental Management System based on Standard UNE–EN ISO 14001 as the most effective and efficient way of carrying out its activity with the least possible impact on the environment.

All Metro de Madrid actions shall be carried out in keeping with the points established in this Environmental Policy.

Metro de Madrid undertakes to:

•  Adopt the necessary measures to prevent pollution from its activities.

•  Comply with applicable environmental legislation and other agreed requirements, going beyond their specifications wherever possible and promoting effective, efficient and safe adaptation to future legislation.

•  Ensuring continuous improvement by more suitable internal organisation, the provision of necessary resources, the assessment of effects on the environment, the proposal of objectives and targets and the periodic review of the Environmental Management System.

•  Circulating this Environmental Policy amongst employees, suppliers and other stakeholders

•  Promoting a high degree of staff awareness with respect to the protection of the Environment, implementing awareness and training schemes amongst employees, dealing with their level of responsibility and the activity carried out by each one.

•  Encouraging improvements in management and adapting the environmental organisation of suppliers and subcontractors of goods and services to Metro de Madrid.

•  Working with Public Authorities and social partners to remove or minimise any negative environmental effects related to Metro de Madrid.

This is why the Management of Metro de Madrid, S.A. will, as part of its Strategic Policy, establish the plans and resources necessary to achieve the commitments set out in this Environmental Policy.
