Bibliometro is a free library lending service operating in the Metro.
Various stations have a series of modules with some 3,000 volumes corresponding to 800
titles. The Bibliometro system permits the loan of two books per reader (they may not be two books
from the latest New Issues Guide) for a maximum period of 15 days, renewable for a further 15.
The user may refer to and access these titles by way of the automated title catalogue
available via the touch screens located in the modules or via the
Internet, as well as by consulting the printed
catalogue.
The Bibliometro service may be used by holders of City Council and Autonomous Community of
Madrid membership cards, besides holders of the Bibliometro card.
The Bibliometro card will be issued at the Bibliometro modules from Monday to Friday, except
public holidays, from 1.30 to 8 p.m., subject to prior presentation of a national identity card,
passport or residence permit.
The membership card is personal, non-transferable and valid at all City Council and
Autonomous Community of Madrid Public Libraries.
Minors who do not have a national identity card may use the Bibliometro service, with the
signed authorization of their father, mother or guardian accompanied by the photocopy of their
national identity card.
The card may be renewed by telephone (91 588 56 60) between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., at the
modules in their normal opening hours, or via the
website.
The book may be returned at any Bibliometro module during opening hours, and 24 hours a day
at modules that have book return boxes.
Late return will be penalized by cancellation of the loan service for a period lasting the
same number of days that the book is returned late.
If the book is lost or damaged, the reader will be liable for its replacement or
compensation.
