Metro de Madrid has provided consultancy on the development and startup of an Integrated Mass Transport System (S.I.T.M.) for the Ecuadorian city of Quito, articulated around the future metro line 1.

The assistance took the form of three successive contracts with the Municipality of Quito between 2010 and 2013:

• Contract 1: Studies for the conceptual design of the Quito Integrated Mass Transport System, and the feasibility of Quito metro line 1.

• Contract 2: Coordination and completion of the backup studies for the design of the engineering for the first line for Quito metro.

• Contract 3: Engineering designs for Quito metro line 1.

Main scopes of the project:

• Conceptual design of the Quito Integrated Mass Transport System: the legal, institutional and charge framework

• Mobility and demand studies

• Commercial viability, technical, socioeconomic, economic-financial studies

• Financial structuring studies

• Supervision and completion of the geological and geotechnical study, and study of the buildings, structures and services affected

• Engineering designs for Quito metro line 1
