Have you ever imagined what the trains of the future will be like?
The future is almost here. Get ready to see the design of the new automatic trains, which will run on line 6 from 2027. More modern, efficient, accessible and sustainable. In total, there will be 40 new vehicles, thanks to an investment of €450 million. One of the great novelties of this new model is that they won’t have a driver's cab. Instead, there will be a panoramic glass pane from which passengers can see the tunnel or the next station.
In addition to this major change, its technology will optimise traffic time by increasing speed by up to 33%. This will enable a train to run as often as every two minutes, reducing travel time for millions of users. They will also have more space, enabling up to 1,385 passengers to travel on each train, 17% more than at present. They will be more sustainable. The materials they are made of are recyclable and will be 20% more energy efficient. In terms of accessibility, they have greater colour contrast and a hearing loop system, among other improvements.
