Metro to install 103 new lifts at 28 stations
Did you know that Metro de Madrid now has 1,700 escalators and 554 lifts distributed around its network. These figures confirm it as one of the most accessible undergrounds in the world.
In its ongoing bid to facilitate transport for persons with reduced mobility, Metro has just introduced a new Accessibility and Inclusion Plan, which will be implemented between now and 2028 and will involve the installation of 103 new lifts at 28 stations on the underground.
By the time the project is completed, 82% of the underground stations will be fully accessible.
