Picking up online orders at your usual Metro station is now a reality

The first Metropaq smart lockers are now up and running on Line 3

Getting around Madrid and picking up your shopping at your Metro station just before you get home is now possible. Metro de Madrid has launched the first smart lockers of the Metropaq project on Line 3, a new service that enables users to collect e-commerce orders directly at their station.

The operation is simple and convenient: when you make an online purchase, you can choose Metro as the delivery point and, when the order is available, you can pick it up quickly and independently using a QR code, without waiting and as part of your routine.

Line 3 now has three smart lockers of different sizes at each of its 19 stations, creating a network of 57 collection points with the capacity to handle thousands of parcels. The lockers are available 365 days a year, during the entire operating hours of the underground, from 6 am to 1.30 am, and are integrated into the station without interfering with passenger traffic.

Companies such as Amazon, GLS and SEUR are already using this system, which enables efficient delivery that fits in with the Metro’s normal operations. As well as improving the user experience, Metropaq is committed to more sustainable urban logistics, reducing the number of delivery vehicles on the surface and helping to create a cleaner, more efficient city.

This initiative will be gradually rolled out across the rest of the network. A new way to make the most of Metro, not just to get around, but also to make your day-to-day life a little easier.
