Lago station

Station of month: Lago, on line10

We continue our monthly tour of Metro stations, and this time we have chosen the one we think is perfect for the summer: Lago! With open-air platforms and located in one of the lungs of the capital, this station takes you straight to a host of refreshing plans.

If there's one station that brings you closer to nature and fun, it's Lago. It is the ideal starting point for outdoor activities such as boating and picnics. Strategically located in Casa de Campo, it is very close to the lake, which makes it an unbeatable place for both locals and tourists who want to enjoy the largest park in the capital, with more than 1,722.6 hectares.

But that's not all! It's also close to a lot of great places for this time of year such as the Amusement Park and the Zoo. So, if you are looking for a day of leisure in the heart of nature, this station is your best option.

Lago station has existed since 1961, when the Madrid underground was born, but together with Batán, it was refurbished in 2003 to adapt it to the new gauge of Line 10.

One of the most interesting things about this station is that its access is different from all the others. It is in a regionalist style building with arches that was built in harmony with the nearby buildings of the Feria Internacional del Campo, which was held in the Casa de Campo between the 1950s and 1970s. The station has a large hall and, in addition to its circular exterior surrounded by arches, its picturesque curved slate roof with a clock tower topped by a locomotive-shaped weather vane is a highlight.

On the floor of the hall, a square Roman-style mosaic accompanies the Metro logo at the entrance. In addition, it has natural light that blends in perfectly with the natural surroundings of the Casa de Campo.

We encourage you to get to know this unique and summery station!
