New lift at Begoña station

We have new lifts

Begoña station has seven new lifts as of this week

The residents of the Fuencarral-El Pardo district now enjoy a refurbished and fully accessible station. Begoña station has opened seven new lifts, with a capacity for 21 people, which will enable elderly people or those with reduced mobility to comfortably access the Metro facilities. This improvement will also benefit patients and staff at the La Paz and Ramón y Cajal public hospitals, to which the station provides access.

In addition, two new halls have been built, which have increased the surface area of the station by more than 1,000 square metres. And new intelligent turnstiles and ticket vending machines have been added, giving the station a futuristic feel.

Begoña station, which opened in 1982 as a line 8 station and became part of line 10 in 1998, will be transformed into a 100% accessible station, thus fulfilling a long-standing neighbourhood demand. In total, Metro de Madrid now has 569 lifts and 1,709 escalators. We continue to work to make Metro one of the most accessible undergrounds in the world!
