We invite you to travel back in time

Would you like to drive a classic train dating back to 1919? Do you want to see what the Madrid underground stations were like at the start of last century?

Metro de Madrid invites you to travel back in time through a new virtual reality experience in Chamartín station. To take part, you only need to register at:, where you can also look at the different time slots for this free activity, which you can sign up for until 2 February.

The display set up by Metro de Madrid includes a space in which you can test out what it would have been like to drive a classic train, using a tablet in which the basic controls to drive the train are recreated. You can also visualise the driver’s position on a large-format TV screen (activity for those over the age of 8).

In a second area, the visitor can access a virtual reality zone in which, using VR glasses, the user is immersed in a personal experience consisting of a fully realistic tour round the first Metro stations going back 100 years (activity for those over the age of 13).

To complete the visit, remember that the collection of restored classic trains is on display in Chamartín station, which was inaugurated on 17 October 2018, and which allows you to see the development of rolling stock on the Madrid underground over the course of its history.
