We’re launching a new bicycle rack at Ciudad Universitaria station
If you’re one of those people who cycles to the Metro, we’ve got some good news: Ciudad Universitaria station now has a new cycle rack, joining the other eleven already in place at other stations on the network.
More and more passengers are combining both modes of transport. They cycle to the station, park their bikes and continue their journey by Metro. The cyclist Miguel Indurain has taken part in the launch of this new service, which will be available to students and local residents.
More than 2,000 cyclists travel by Metro every year. Lines 12, 3 and 10 are the most popular, as this combination is a convenient, practical and sustainable option that is gaining more and more supporters every day.
That is why Metro is continuing to expand its network of cycle racks in this way. The aim is to make it easier to combine travel on the underground and by bike. At present, parking facilities are available at the following stations: Arganzuela-Planetario, Chamartín, Colonia Jardín, Fuente de la Mora, La Peseta, Moncloa, Nuevos Ministerios, Plaza de Castilla, Plaza Elíptica, Puerta del Sur or Rivas Futura. With the inclusion of Ciudad Universitaria, the network continues to expand to facilitate this connection between the two modes of transport.
Some people use it to get to the station from home; others use it to cover the final stretch once they’ve got off the underground. Whatever the route, having safe places to leave it makes combining the two modes of transport much easier.
