If you are one of those passengers who enjoys reading the strips inside the trains, you are in luck! More than 6,000 plastic strips have been renewed for the 27th edition of the Libros a la calle (Books to the streets) initiative. The goal of this initiative is to awaken an interest in literature among passengers. The Publishers' Association of Madrid (Asociación de Editores de Madrid, AEM) and the Spanish Centre for Reprographic Rights (Centro Español de Derechos Reprográficos, CEDRO) collaborate in this campaign, promoted by the regional government as part of the Reading Promotion Plan. 

In this edition, the fragments cover all genres, from poetry and essays to comics, children's and young people's literature, novels, short stories and theatre.Texts have been selected from some of the most outstanding authors of the latest national literary prizes, such as Cristina Fernández Cubas, who received the 2023 National Prize for Spanish Literature for Todos los cuentos, or Antonio Monegal, winner of the 2023 National Essay Prize with Como el aire que respiramos. El sentido de la cultura.

In addition, homage is paid to writers such as María de la O Lejárraga, on the 150th anniversary of her birth, and to the 100th anniversary of the publication of Luces de Bohemia by Ramón María del Valle-Inclán.
