The Community reinforces public transport on account of the Villa de Madrid Half Marathon

The purpose is to assure the mobility both of the 20,000 runners and of the spectators and public transport users in the area

Tomorrow the Community of Madrid will be implementing special service arrangements, via the Transport Consortium, on account of the holding of the Villa de Madrid Half Marathon. The modifications to the service will consist of diverting various EMT bus lines and reinforcing Metro Line 2 by an extra 22%. The purpose of these special arrangements is to assure the mobility of both the 20,000 runners who will be taking part in the event and of the spectators and public transport users in the area.

This charity race, which sets out to collect food items for under-privileged families in the Community of Madrid, will have its starting point on Paseo del Prado, between Atocha and Neptuno, and its finish on Paseo de Coches in the Retiro Park.

The EMT bus lines which will change their route will be, on the one hand, the night-time services 10, 14, 27, 34, 37, 45, N9, N10, N11, N12, N13, N14, N15, N17 and N25. On the other hand, daytime lines 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28, 29, 32, 34, 37, 40, 43, 45, 49, 51, 52, 53, 61, 63, 64, 66, 70, 74, 87, 107, 120, 124, 126, 127, 128, 146, 147, 150, 152, 174, C1, C2, Airport Express and SE Plaza Castilla-Cementerio Fuencarral will all be diverted. These diversions will be carried out between 3 a.m. and 12 noon.

For its part, service on Metro Line 2 will be reinforced with an extra 22% in order to assure suitable mobility at the conclusion of the sporting event. This service reinforcement will take place between 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

All these measures will be coordinated from the Madrid Regional Transport Consortium 24h Management Centre, in conjunction at all times with the Madrid City Bus Service (EMT) and Metro Madrid.
