Metro will reinforce the service on Line 8 by as much as 50% on account of the holding of FITUR

As from tomorrow Wednesday until Sunday. The increase in trains will take place between 7:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. Last year the Fair was attended by more than 230,000 people.

Metro Madrid will step up the service on Line 8 as from tomorrow until next Sunday so as to meet the greater demand of users generated by the holding between those days of the International Tourism Fair, FITUR, at the IFEMA trade fair complex.

The reinforcement, which will be between 25-30%, except on Saturday, when it will reach as much as 50%, will begin as of 7.30 a.m., when the number of people starting to arrive is expected to be higher, and terminate at the daily closure of the Fair at 8 p.m. In any case, the special arrangements will be prolonged until later if the influx of users so advocates.

On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday there will be 8% more trains between 7.30-9.30 a.m. From then on the service will be increased by 30%, and as of 10.30 a.m. the reinforcement will reach around 25%. It will be on Saturday morning when the largest increase will take place, with 50% more trains as of 9.30 a.m., whilst on Sunday the increase will be 33% in the morning.

This increase in trains will also be accompanied by an increase in the numbers of Metro staff and security personnel on Line 8, primarily at Nuevos Ministerios and Campo de las Naciones Stations, where a higher transit of users is expected to attend the Fair. The aim is to assure mobility in the stations, especially at those where a larger influx of people is expected to take place.

Last year, FITUR received over 230,000 visitors, many of whom used the Metro in order to attend the event.
