Service between Arganda del Rey and La Poveda stations (line 9b) suspended for works between 31 March and 5 April

Entrance to Arganda del Rey station
An alternative bus service will be laid on between the two stations. The works are to repair the damage caused by the heavy rain last summer that affected traffic above ground.

The service between Arganda del Rey and La Poveda stations (line 9b) will be suspended as from 31 March to 5 April (inclusive) due to the works to be carried out above ground, specifically in the town of Arganda del Rey.

These works seek to repair the damage caused by torrential rainfall last summer (from 26 August to 15 September) at a roundabout on the PK 6+640 (Arganda del Rey), at the level of TFM, which has been closed to traffic since then, although the service on line 9b has been running normally.

The heavy rainfall and hail damaged the land where the installations are located for line 9b of the Metro on the stretch from Poveda to Arganda del Rey, the last two stations on the line. Accordingly a technical study was performed in December to assess the potential damage caused. Once this was done, TFM (the concession company of line 9b) decided to repair the most serious damage and thus allow traffic to run as normal again above ground in the area.

The works primarily consist of strengthening the infrastructure: the repair of slopes, drainage in certain areas and the repair of other access elements where the PK 6+630 crosses the line in order to maintain the land and the installations with all due guarantees.

Passengers that currently use the TFM service between the two stations will be offered an alternative bus service free of charge.

The work will be carried out with the corresponding security measures due to the exceptional circumstances deriving from the new situation of the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
