Today, the Governing Council of the Region of Madrid gave the green light today to an investment of 12.5 million euros for the renovation of the platform track on the section between Manuela Malasaña and Conservatorio stations on Metro line 12 (known as Metrosur). Work is expected to take place during the last quarter of the year and will last approximately two and a half months.

The goal of this work, which gives continuity to other actions already carried out, is to improve the safety, reliability and quality of the infrastructure. It will also increase maintenance efficiency and the life span of track systems, optimise noise and vibration mitigation and improve the drainage system.

The works will be carried out along 12 kilometres of track platform, which means service in the affected section will be suspended. The tasks include repairing the concrete track platform by means of injections and transverse trenches, and repairing the channels. Elastic plugs will also be replaced with direct fixing plates.

These improvements will avoid the problems that generated water on the platform. In addition, an updated and modern track restraint system will be implemented, which will improve the speed and comfort of the journey.

ALTERNATIVE BUS SERVICE

In order to minimise the inconvenience for passengers as much as possible and reduce the impact of the work, it will be carried out in several shifts, seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

The Madrid Regional Transport Consortium will guarantee mobility in the area by launching a special bus service, at no additional cost to the user, which will cover the section while renovation work is being carried out.

With these works, Metro de Madrid has completed the renovation of the track on the 40 kilometres of line 12 (Metrosur), which runs between Puerta del Sur (Alcorcón) and San Nicasio (Leganés).
