The Region of Madrid will invest more than 3.8 million euros in the maintenance of different facilities on Metro de Madrid line 12 (known as Metrosur), over a period of four years. Work will be carried out as part of the maintenance of the entire Madrid underground infrastructure, which will involve a total investment of more than 35 million euros.

The aim is to improve the service in different aspects of preventive and corrective maintenance of stations, tunnels, depots and facilities in the Metro de Madrid network.

Facility maintenance is a priority for this Region of Madrid public company in order to ensure a quality, safe and reliable service, and correct execution is essential to prevent future incidents in the infrastructure and guarantee that the Madrid underground is in the best possible condition.

The work includes maintenance activities aimed at preserving the infrastructure (tunnels, auxiliary installations or large structures in stations), architecture, finishes and, in general, all activities related to construction work. Tasks will include cleaning and maintenance work on ventilation shafts, rainwater pumping shafts and cleaning the roofing of station accesses.

These actions are intended to increase control over the state of conservation of the underground infrastructure, reducing incidents in the medium and long term, improving internal monitoring mechanisms and guaranteeing functionality for longer.
