The Community of Madrid is modernising the Pueblo Nuevo Metro station with new coatings and platform and access technology
The Community of Madrid is to spend 6.3 million euros on modernising the Pueblo Nuevo Metro station, which is served by lines 5 and 7. The Governing Council this week approved the allocation of these works, which have an execution period of 18 months. This action is part of the Metro de Madrid Modernisation Plan, which aims to renovate 33 of the network's oldest stations, with an investment of 89 million euros.
With this work, Metro will replace the obsolete coatings, installations and technology located on the platforms and their accesses with other more modern materials and equipment. This will facilitate maintenance work and improve the functionality of the facilities at the Pueblo Nuevo station.
The remodelling of the station includes various actions in the accesses and corridors corresponding to the streets Hermanos de Pablo and Emilio Ferrari. Works will also be carried out in both vestibules, on the platforms of lines 5 and 7, as well as in the corridors connecting with line 7 and on the stairs leading to the platforms of this line.
In addition, the station's drainage and sewage network will be extended with new waterproofing systems and new electrical conduits will be installed. The spaces will also be equipped with new furniture and the walls and floors will have the same criteria as the rest of the new stations.
IMPROVEMENTS IN ACCESSIBILITY
Furthermore, the work includes complementary measures to provide overall accessibility to the station, which already has four lifts. In particular, the number of inductive loop intercoms will be increased to facilitate their use by people with a hearing impairment. The public address systems will also be improved and new digital signage systems will be installed, among other improvements.
This action is in addition to the work of the Modernisation Plan in the stations of Ascao, Bilbao and Pavones, which has already been completed, as well as that being carried out in the Duque de Pastrana, Esperanza, Prosperidad, Alfonso XIII, Príncipe de Vergara, Tribunal and Gran Vía stations.
