Regional Government of Madrid to start works on Friday to improve stretch between Aluche and Oporto stations on Line 5

The Regional Government of Madrid will start works on Friday to improve the stretch between Aluche and Oporto stations, specifically between Carabanchel and Vista Alegre stations, on Line 5 of the underground until 12 March, inclusive.
The works, which will be carried out in the tunnel that joins the stations, will consist of consolidating and strengthening the land under the track, and introduces a support system with plates in reinforced slabs on the track bed. An investment of approximately 800,000 will be allocated to these works.
These works will be carried out after detecting, in the continuous inspections made of the installations, the need to strengthen this zone, and thus continue guaranteeing the service quality for users of the Madrid underground.
During the two weeks the works are due to last, the Regional Transport Consortium will lay on a free alternative bus service in order to alleviate, as far as possible, the nuisance caused to users.
Both Aluche and Oporto stations will remain open for travellers, since it will still be possible to travel on Line 5 from Aluche to Casa de Campo and connect there with Line 10. In the case of Oporto station, users will also be able to travel on Line 5 until the end of the line at Alameda de Osuna station, and use the connection with Line 6.
