The Community of Madrid will reduce the price of the public transport season ticket for 14,000 users in Rivas Vaciamadrid in March
Councillor Pérez said that the regional government will invest more than €300,000 per year to pay for this measure. From that date onwards, all residents of this municipality will pay only €25.4 per month. In addition, a 60% reduction in the cost of all monthly tickets came into force on 1 February. In the first month and a half of this year, 784,257 over-65s have loaded their free yearly card and 36,156 new personal cards have been issued. Public transport users in the region have made more than 20 million trips in the same period
The Community of Madrid will reduce the price of the Public Transport Card (Tarjeta de Transporte Público, TTP) for 14,000 users in Rivas Vaciamadrid from 15 March. Thanks to the combination of the B2 and B1 fare zones, which will come into force from that date, the cost of this card will drop from €28.8 to just €25.4 per month.
Today, the Regional Minister of Transport, Mobility and Infrastructure, David Pérez, announced this decision in the Plenary Session of the Madrid Assembly, in which the regional government will invest more than €300,000 per year, which was adopted on 30 January at the meeting of the Madrid Regional Transport Consortium (Consejo Regional de Transportes de Madrid, CRTM). On 1 February, the 60% reduction in the price of monthly public transport tickets approved by the Community of Madrid also came into force, 10% more than what the central government had established in order to make its contribution effective. With these new fares, the Youth Season Ticket –under 26 years of age– costs €8; the A €21.80; the B1 €25.4; the B2 €28.8, and the unified zone B3-C1/C2 €32.8.
In addition, there are discounts on all types of tickets for large families in the general category, which have an additional reduction of 20%, and those in the special category, with 50%; in the case of people with a
disability of more than 65%, it is 20%.
