Next Monday, 15 May the underground company will offer special passes from 10 am to 2 pm. The underground organises free guided tours of the Nave de Motores, the old Chamberí Station and the Chamartín train exhibition. The Metro Shop will be offering discounts to families next week for the purchase of its products

This Monday, the Community of Madrid will open the Metro's museum spaces on the occasion of the International Day of Families. The underground company will offer a special pass with free guided visits to the exhibition of historic trains in Chamartín, the Nave de Motores de Pacífico and the old Chamberí station, which can be visited from 10 am to 2 pm to see first-hand the underground's past, subject to prior reservation at https://museosmetromadrid.es/.

This programme is being organised precisely on the 15th anniversary of the reopening of the Metro Museums in March 2008, after over 40 years of being closed. In this period, over 1,200,000 people have passed through these venues, including the Pacífico hall and the Caños del Peral exhibition in Ópera.

Another initiative of the Madrid underground was the launch last year of the Museum Passport, which invites you to visit the eight cultural sites of the Madrid underground –in addition to the five sites mentioned above, there is the Tirso de Molina hall, the Carpetana Palaeontological Centre and the Gran Vía Museum. Once you have completed the entire route and have collected all the stamps on the document, you are given a gift in the Metro shops at Sol and Plaza de Castilla stations. You can find all the information regarding this proposal at https://www.metromadrid.es/en/pasaportemuseos.

This action has served to increase the interest of locals and tourists alike in visiting these priceless sites. Since it began in February last year, some 10,000 passports have been issued and some 1,300 users have already received their reward after completing all the points along the route.

DISCOUNTS AT THE METRO SHOP

In addition, the Metro de Madrid Shop will offer special discounts for families from 15 to 21 May with discounts of up to 20% on the purchase of packs of official products, which will be available both in the physical shops in Sol and Plaza de Castilla and in the online shop.
