The Community of Madrid will invest nearly 7 million euros in spare parts for Metro trains

The Community of Madrid will invest €6,857,101.05 for the procurement of 600 spare parts for the compressed air production equipment and the braking system for Metro de Madrid trains. Replacing these elements is essential to the proper functioning of the underground fleet and to guarantee service provision.
The machinery is systematically renewed based on its deterioration or wear, once any alterations in the materials are detected, both in the preventive and corrective inspections that are conducted periodically on the company's trains.
The calculation of required spare parts needed for the Madrid underground's rolling stock over a specific period is made by considering factors like the frequency of planned inspections, the components needed for each unit type and the historical consumption patterns from previous years, among other factors.
Furthermore, other potential variables are evaluated, including incidents in the Metro network affecting the trains, fluctuations in the kilometres travelled or adjustments to scheduled maintenance reviews. A safety stock that is immediately available is also established.
Supply deliveries will be scheduled over the 30-month contract duration to align with service demands, optimising product guarantees and thus reducing the logistical and financial costs of acquisitions.
