The Governing Council has authorised this service for 3000 and 9000 series convoys. These trains run on lines 2, 3, 7, 9, 10, 12 and the Ópera-Príncipe Pío branch, which had 275 million users in 2022, almost half of the entire network. These inspections guarantee the reliability and operability of the fleet for the comfort of underground passengers

The Community of Madrid Government Council held this week authorised an investment of €81.2 million for the maintenance of 143 trains of the 3000 and 9000 series, which represent a third of all the rolling stock that the public company has in circulation on the underground network.

This contract, which has a duration of four years from the date of its approval, contemplates a variety of specific works, including the repair of unforeseen breakdowns during the provision of the service, scheduled revisions and the replacement of materials that wear out or are consumed by daily activity.

Metro de Madrid has 90 trains of the 3000 series, which operate on Lines 2, 3 and the Ópera-Príncipe Pío branch line, and 53 of the 9000 series, which run on Lines 7, 9, 10 and 12 (Metro Sur). Last year, these lines together absorbed almost half of the total number of passengers on the network, 48%, with a total of 275 million people.

The purpose of this action is to keep the fleet in perfect working order, avoid incidents and guarantee its reliability and safety in traffic, which ultimately results in a better quality of service and greater comfort for users.
