Today, Regional Minister Rodrigo inaugurated this project, which includes explanatory videos of this new infrastructure on an interactive screen. The section between Plaza Elíptica and Conde de Casal will be 6.3 kilometres long with two new stations, Comillas and Madrid Río. The goal of this initiative is to encourage the use of this century-old mode of public transport, which is trusted by almost two and a half million passengers every day.

Today, the Community of Madrid has inaugurated a new information area with informative and audiovisual content at Atocha Metro station to explain the extension works on line 11 to the public. The goal is for passengers to discover the layout and the execution of this important infrastructure, which will be added to the underground network and will connect Cuatro Vientos with Valdebebas Norte, crossing the capital diagonally.

The Regional Minister of Housing, Transport and Infrastructures, Jorge Rodrigo, presented this showroom in which videos are shown, such as the one detailing the section between Plaza Elíptica and Conde de Casal, which will be built over a route of 6.3 kilometres and includes two new stations: Comillas and Madrid Río.

"We wish to promote and encourage the use of this important mode of transport for the people of Madrid, which is trusted by almost two and a half million passengers every day. In the last Service Quality Perception Survey, Metro obtained a score of 8.18/10, the highest rating in the 30 years that this measurement has been carried out, and we know that, in order to achieve excellence, we have to continue to make the network grow", Rodrigo pointed out.

The Regional Minister pointed out that this exhibition space responds to the fact that 15 million people go through Atocha every year, "from a highly visible area to contemplate the audiovisual content which can be accessed via a large interactive screen". In addition, all the information has subtitled signage, thus fulfilling one of the metropolitan company's commitments to improve accessibility and eliminate barriers of any kind.

DISSEMINATION OF WORKS AND PROJECTS

Citizens will be able to access the contents in a simple and intuitive way and will even be able to enjoy images of the underground since its creation in 1919, highlighting that first line of four kilometres and eight stations that are today part of a network that is the most extensive in Spain and the third largest in Europe, with 12 lines and a branch line that connects 12 municipalities.

"We believe it is essential for the people of Madrid to know what projects are underway, demonstrating that each Metro extension is a considered effort that responds to a real need, contributing to the structuring of the territory and equal opportunities", stressed the Regional Minister, who concluded by assuring that "in the Regional Government we are well aware that the works entail inconveniences but, in time, they represent advantages and improvements in the quality of life and environmental protection".
