Regional Minister Rodrigo checked the latest work on the installation of the perimeter screens. Together with Madrid Río, it is part of the connection between Plaza Elíptica and Conde de Casal. The 38-metre deep excavation will be carried out with a vertical extraction system that reduces the environmental impact. The future route, with an investment of €514 million by the regional government, generates an alternative to the large number of passengers using line 6

The Community of Madrid has completed a new phase in the construction of the future Comillas Metro station on line 11. Today, the Regional Minister of Housing, Transport and Infrastructure, Jorge Rodrigo, visited the works in the Carabanchel district of the Spanish capital, where he witnessed the latest work on the installation of the perimeter screens of this infrastructure which forms part of the connection between Plaza Elíptica and Conde de Casal.

Specifically, after finishing their installation in the main box, the work on site now focuses on the screens in the access area and the emergency exit. Excavation work will begin as this stage is completed. "It is more than 38 metres deep and we are going to use a vertical extraction system that significantly reduces the environmental impact", added the Regional Minister, who specified that instead of using a ramp, as usual, the operations will be carried out with two lifts.

The Regional Ministry of Housing, Transport and Infrastructure has protected a large number of trees and reduced the noise level by means of acoustic panels, while at the same time, the new Madrid Río station is being built.

With an investment of €514 million by the regional government, it will make it easier for thousands of people who usually use line 6 of the underground to get around. Over the next decade, line 11 is expected to increase its daily demand by more than 75,000 passengers.

REMAINS OF AN OLD TILE FACTORY

The Minister for Transport and Infrastructures has supervised some of the archaeological remains found in the area where the initial works are being carried out. Among them, Rodrigo pointed out, "a basin from an old tile factory that dates back to the end of the 19th century and was used to mix clay".

In addition, the Citizen's Advice Bureau, set up by the regional government in December last year to handle residents' queries, has resolved 668 queries.
