The Community of Madrid celebrates Mobility Week with a wide-ranging programme of activities and conferences that will address the challenges facing the sector

Regional Minister Rodrigo visited today the exhibition of electric vehicles organised by the company Bewatt in Tres Cantos. For the first time, the regional government has its own agenda and programme for this event, which starts today and runs until 22 September. Proposals include a visit to the works on underground line 3; to CITRAM, the brain of Madrid's transport system, and a motorbike route through the Sierra Norte mountains. Metro participates in Car Free Day by offering free access to the network to all users arriving by bicycle.

From today until 22 September, the Community of Madrid is celebrating European Mobility Week with a wide range of activities and conferences that will analyse the future and alternatives for the transport sector in areas such as efficiency, safety, innovation, accessibility, digitalisation and social responsibility.

Regional Minister of Housing, Transport and Infrastructure, Jorge Rodrigo, visited the exhibition of electric vehicles organised by the company Bewatt in Tres Cantos, one of the initiatives organised for this week, where he stressed that "for the first time, the regional government has its own agenda and programme".

Activities planned by the regional government include inviting invite schools, senior citizens' associations and engineering schools to learn about the status of the works to extend Metro line 3 from Villaverde to El Casar, in Getafe.

CITRAM will also be open for visits; this great public transport management centre receives information from more than 10,000 cameras and controls more than 5,000 buses and trains in real time. A motorbike route through Madrid’s Sierra Norte mountains has been organised that will go as far as Torrelaguna.

On Thursday, 19 September, a conference will be held at the headquarters of the Regional Ministry in Calle Maudes with the participation of public representatives, companies and foundations, who will present their points of view on the economic, social and environmental aspects of mobility.

To mark Car Free Day on Sunday, 22 September, Metro de Madrid will give free access to its network for all users arriving by bicycle. The Madrid metro company will also launch the Apúntate al reto Metro Fit (Join the Metro Fit challenge) campaign, with posters installed at Cuatro Caminos, Plaza de España, Gregorio Marañón and Alonso Martínez stations, inviting passengers to engage in physical exercise and lead healthy lifestyles.
