The initiative was part of the Regional Ministry of Housing, Transport and Infrastructure's programme to celebrate Mobility Week. The lines used most were lines 12, 7 and 10; the most used stations being Lago, Príncipe Pío and Fuenlabrada Central. The regional government has reminded users that it's possible to travel on trains using this means of transport, but always in accordance with a series of rules and timetables.

The Community of Madrid has put the number of citizens who accessed the Metro network by bike free of charge last Sunday to celebrate World Car Free Day at 1,500. The most used lines were line 12, with 300 cyclists, followed by line 7 with 180 and line 10 with 165.

In addition, regarding stations, the most used ones were Lago, Príncipe Pío and Fuenlabrada Central, which registered 132, 105 and 99 users on bikes. In terms of timetables, the busiest times were in the morning, between 9.30 am and 1.30 pm (700 passengers), and between 1.30 pm and 3.30 pm (300).

According to Metro de Madrid, these figures are very similar to those collected on 3 June, when the company also offered free travel on the network for World Bicycle Day.

The Regional Ministry of Housing, Transport and Infrastructures included this underground initiative in the activities programmed for the celebration of Mobility Week, which took place between 16 and 22 September, with the aim of promoting the combined use of these two modes of transport among the people of Madrid.

The regional government reminds us that it's possible to travel on trains with bikes, but always in accordance with a series of rules that can be checked on the www.metromadrid.es website and on specific days, although on public holidays, Saturdays and Sundays access is permitted throughout the network. In any case, only one can be carried per passenger.

Metro has 8 bike racks at Rivas Futura, La Peseta, Arganzuela Planetario, Nuevos Ministerios, Colonia Jardín, Puerta del Sur, Fuente de la Mora and Chamartín stations. These sites are part of the Community of Madrid's REB Plan (Red de Estacionamientos para Bicicletas, Bicycle Parking Network), which aims to promote sustainable mobility, pairing the healthy and ecological use of this vehicle with the efficiency of public transport.
