The Community of Madrid completes the remodelling work on the Sacedal Metro maintenance workshop, which will double its working capacity
Minister Rodrigo visited the 4,000 square metre infrastructure today, in the renovation of which 8 million euros have been invested. This centre services 31 trains on line 9, although it can supervise trains running on lines 6, 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12. Six new pits have been built, twice as many as before, and more modern equipment has been installed. The metropolitan company currently has 14 depots in which improvement works will also be undertaken, with a budget of 168 million euros.
The Community of Madrid has completed the remodelling work on the rolling stock maintenance workshops at the Sacedal Metro depot, therefore doubling the working capacity of this depot, which regularly services the 31 trains on line 9. These works have involved the renovation of more than 4,000 square metres with an investment of 8 million euros.
The Regional Minister of Housing, Transport and Infrastructures, Jorge Rodrigo, visited this space today located in the capital’s Calle Ventisquero de la Condesa, where "we have built six new pits (twice as many as before) and other more modern facilities".
Among these novelties, the installation of an individual bogie lift (where the axles and wheels are fixed), turning equipment, and three turntables stand out. This centre can also supervise those running on lines 6, 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12 (wide gauge).
These improvements are similar to those that will be carried out in the 14 rolling stock maintenance premises that Metro has distributed throughout the region, and which form part of an investment plan of more than 168 million euros, which will involve the renovation of facilities and machines such as washing tunnels, blowing equipment for cleaning the undercarriages or access walkways to the roof, among others.
REFURBISHMENT OF CHANGING ROOMS
Likewise, the Madrid underground has put the remodelling of the changing rooms and toilets for the Overhead Line maintenance staff working in Sacedal out to tender for almost two million euros. It will also include annexed areas such as offices, break rooms and warehouses for complementary activities with the aim of improving the working conditions of the workers as well as providing a safer and healthier environment.
These workshops are essential in guaranteeing the operability of the network, as they carry out essential tasks for the correct functioning of the Metro, such as the maintenance and cleaning of the carriages, with the aim of avoiding breakdowns and ensuring the safety of traffic and service availability.
