The Community of Madrid will present at the Global Mobility Call, the largest international meeting on sustainable mobility, the latest advances in this area, such as the automation of Metro Line 6 and the digitalisation of the public transport card.

At this fair, which will be held at IFEMA from 19 to 21 November, the Regional Ministry of Housing, Transport and Infrastructure will participate with a booth shared by the metropolitan company and the Regional Transport Consortium (CRTM), covering over 100 square metres, where the more than 10,000 attendees and 250 participating companies will be able to discover the innovations that will be implemented by both organisations in this field.

The regional government will also announce other initiatives such as the acquisition of 80 new trains to renovate the fleet of Lines 6, 8 and 1, which will replace the older models currently running on the network. The integration of these units will also make it possible to complete the automatic driving process on L6 in order to improve, among other aspects, frequency and passenger capacity.

The accessibility plan Metro de Madrid is developing, with actions at different stations such as Ventas and Avenida de América, will be another of the highlights of this benchmark event in the industry. In fact, the Community of Madrid recently received AENOR certification in recognition of the commitment of the underground, which ranks first in Europe and fourth in the world in this area, with a total of 1,710 escalators and 559 lifts.

Within the activities programmed in the Global Mobility Call agenda, the Madrid Government will be represented in different conferences and presentations, for example, on the evolution of the excellence model of public transport or decarbonised mobility.

THE NEW DIGITAL CARD TO TRAVEL IN MADRID

For its part, the Regional Transport Consortium will show the advantages of the new digital card to travel in Madrid and explain to attendees how to download it and use it on their phones. This novelty will make it possible to dispense with the physical ticket, for the time being, using 10-trip tickets, tourist tickets and the Airport supplement.

In addition, visitors will be able to discover at the Madrid booth the new 4.0 bus shelters, recently launched by the CRTM and equipped with NaviLens technology, a system adapted to the visually impaired that helps them to locate the stop by following verbal instructions from their mobile device by downloading a free app.
