Today, the Community of Madrid starts the Christmas trip on Metro with the traditional train decorated and illuminated with typical Christmas motifs that will travel along Line 6. The carriages will run until 6 January to provide the magic of these special days. This year, as a novelty, the metropolitan company is organising special shows by a magician for the little ones at Moncloa station, a nativity scene will be on display at the Caños del Peral Museum in Ópera and there will be a music concert at the Nave de Motores.
Father Christmas and his elves will be on board the Christmas Train at weekends and on public holidays until 24 December, and from 25 December onwards, the pages of Their Majesties the Three Kings will accompany the users of the underground train that runs along the Circular line. The Madrid-based company will provide daily information on its X profile on the route and approximate timetable.
In addition, Metro has organised passes, previously arranged with schools in the Community of Madrid, from 25 November to 19 December in Moncloa. The Christmas Classroom has been set up there, with magic shows in three daily sessions and afterwards, the schoolchildren, accompanied by elves, will board the carriage and enjoy the trip to Nuevos Ministerios.
A Nativity Scene will also be on display at Ópera station, assembled by the Association of Nativity Scene Makers of Madrid, which will adorn the Arch of the Aqueduct of Amaniel, kept in the Caños del Peral Museum, from 5 December. The large statues come from the well-known Olot School of Landscape Painting in Girona and depict the Holy Family and the Adoration of the Three Kings with great emotion.
On the other hand, on 20 December, a concert will take place in the Nave de Motores de Pacífico by the Atlántida Brass wind and brass group. It will last 1 hour and they will perform a wide repertoire of Christmas music. To access this recital, which is also free of charge, reservations are required at https://museosmetromadrid.es
An exhibition of models of historical rolling stock will be held in the same space from 6 December. The exhibition will include a reproduction of the classic rolling stock, Cuatro Caminos model, on a scale of 1:14 and another six 1:20 scale reproductions of classic carriages, made by students of the Technical Degree in Modelling and Model Making of the ArteDiez Public School of Design.
Also from the 20th, and with prior reservation, visitors will be able to try out the historical simulator at the Chamartín exhibition of classic trains. The experience will consist of a tour of the stations of the inaugural section in the first train to run on the Madrid underground.
And finally, as is now tradition, Metro will extend the days on which its museums can be visited, by appointment, so that all citizens can visit them from Monday to Sunday at different times.
