Today, Councillor Rodrigo presented this initiative, which began as a pilot test last year on some trains on Lines 1, 6, 8 and 10. A total of 7,000 priority seats for the elderly and pregnant women will be marked with green plastic strips. The goal is to raise awareness of the importance of giving space to those who need it most and to facilitate their identification. It is part of the civic campaign to raise awareness and improve coexistence on the underground during trips.

The Community of Madrid is going to extend the green priority seats reserved for passengers with reduced mobility, the elderly and pregnant women to all Metro trains, with the goal of improving the visibility of these spaces and guaranteeing their correct use.

The Regional Minister for Housing, Transport and Infrastructure, Jorge Rodrigo, presented this initiative today after a tour between Moncloa and Callao stations, on Line 3, where he announced that a total of 7,000 priority seats will be marked with plastic strips.

This project, which began as a pilot test last year on some trains on Lines 1, 6, 8 and 10, is part of the civic campaign developed by the metropolitan company to make passengers aware of a number of behaviours to improve coexistence during trips on the underground.

The goal is to promote attitudes that encourage good manners and respect among users, bearing in mind, moreover, that a significant percentage of the suggestions received by Metro de Madrid refer to better coexistence in aspects such as not obstructing the exit of the train, talking quietly on the phone, listening to music with headphones and placing backpacks on the floor. It will be disseminated in the usual advertising media and on the official social media accounts of the public company.
