The Community of Madrid launches a limited edition of Metro sweatshirts inspired by the region's history, culture and heritage

On the occasion of 2 May, the metropolitan company is launching these pieces, which will be available for purchase online and at Plaza de Castilla and Sol stations. It is a design with the inscription Madrid x Metro, accompanied by icons of the Spanish capital that come to life in the sunlight. The garments, in five colours, include two key dates: 1983, the year of the creation of the Statute of Autonomy and 1919, when the first underground line was inaugurated.

The Community of Madrid commemorates this year's celebration of the 2 May with the launch of a limited edition of sweatshirts inspired by the history, culture and heritage of the region. These pieces, available in five colours, can be purchased for €50 at the metro company's online shop and at the Plaza de Castilla and Sol stations. 

The garments have been designed with the inscription Madrid x Metro drawing a large M in the centre, accompanied by visual elements that come to life in the sunlight. These motifs include some of the most representative symbols of the Spanish capital, such as a Menina, the Puerta del Sol, the Metro diamond, the emblematic bear and strawberry tree, a boat from El Retiro, the Puerta de Alcalá and the seven stars of the Ursa Major constellation, which represent the Community of Madrid. 

On the back of the sweatshirt, two key dates in the region's history are inscribed: 1983, the year of the creation of the Statute of Autonomy and 1919, when the first underground line was inaugurated, symbolising the progress and identity of the city. 

This action is in addition to others of similar characteristics that the metropolitan company has launched in recent years, such as the Christmas jumper, a sales success with two thousand copies sold at Christmas, or the 105th anniversary trainers, the first edition of which sold out in just eight hours, and of which more than a thousand units have been purchased. In addition, one of its latest products, the new Metro umbrella, has become the shop's best seller this spring.
