The underground has launched the tender, which is divided into seven lots and will last for four years, with the option to include two extensions. It affects warehouses and depots as well as electrical substations or stations, including fire extinguishers located in these infrastructures.

The Community of Madrid will invest €12.3 million in the maintenance of the fire protection systems of the different facilities in the Metro network over the next four years, with the option to extend this twice for six months at a time.

The underground has launched a tender for this service, divided into seven lots according to the different types and specialities of the equipment and facilities in which they are located. Thus, it covers depots and warehouses as well as electrical substations or stations, including the fire extinguishers located in these infrastructures. In this sense, it also includes the gas detection probes installed on Line 8, the remote control systems and the photoluminescent signalling.

The regional government's goal is to continue to offer the best service to users, prioritising the safety of passengers and the public company's employees. This way, fire protection devices are checked and repaired, while aspects such as response and repair times and the availability of these tools are improved.

Metro de Madrid has been a pioneer in the implementation of this type of measures. In fact, the Madrid underground has a patent in this area, such as the water mist extinguishing system, a design developed by the company.
