The process will be carried out through a Public Employment Offer that will be published tomorrow, Monday, in the regional Official Gazette (Boletín Oficial de la Comunidad de Madrid, BOCM). The first recruitments are expected to take place in the first quarter of 2026 and a reserve pool of 405 candidates will be created. At present, 1,106 workers belong to this professional profile, which represents approximately 15% of the company's total workforce.

The Community of Madrid is to launch a call for applications to fill 45 maintenance officer positions in Metro, in order to reinforce the underground's workforce in this area. Specifically, the vacancies are divided into 16 for Electricity, four for Electronics and Communications, 21 for Rolling Stock and Mechatronics and four for Civil Works.

Those interested need to be registered as job seekers in any of the public offices in the region, within the specific occupational codes. In addition, they must meet the training or professional experience requirements set out in the terms and conditions to be published tomorrow in the Official Gazette of the Community of Madrid (Boletín Oficial de la Comunidad de Madrid, BOCM).

The recruitment process will consist of several phases. First of all, the Regional Employment Service will propose candidates who fit the required profile. Pre-selection will take place on 1 July 2025, after which those selected will be called for an objective aptitude test, scheduled for September. Those who obtain the best qualifications and pass the medical examination will be called for training prior to their recruitment.

It is envisaged that the first recruitments can take place during the first quarter of 2026. The positions will cover the replacement rate and Metro will reserve 7% for each sub-process for persons with disabilities. Practically 100% of the company has a permanent contract, which guarantees stability within the company.

Pools of a total of 405 reserve candidates will also be constituted, in accordance with the terms set out in the terms and conditions of the calls for applications, for each of the selection sub-processes, with candidates who have obtained the best score in the objective aptitude test.

This way, the Collective Bargaining Agreement signed on 31 March 2025 and agreed with the trade unions, which stipulated the start of a recruitment process to cover the staff of officers, has been complied with. The underground currently has 1,106 employees in this professional category, which represents approximately 15% of the total number of Metro workers.
