On Tuesday 1 July, the Community of Madrid will update the fares that will apply to public transport until 31 December, which will include free fares for children aged between 7 and 14. This way, this age group joins the under 7s and over 65s, who already enjoy a free season ticket in the region thanks to the subsidy from the regional government. 

In order to take advantage of this new benefit, users over 7 years old need to be in possession of their normal red card, which must be topped up free of charge every 30 days. Those who do not yet have this card will have to apply for it through the website of the Regional Transport Consortium (www.crtm.es) or by getting an appointment for one of its management offices. It is advisable to complete the procedure online due to its speed, as all you have to do is fill in all the required information and provide a photograph. If this option is chosen, the public transport card will be delivered to the applicant's home address. 

For the young person season ticket, that is, for those between 15 and 25 years old, the discount from 1 July will be 50%, so they will be able to travel throughout the region for €10 per month. The rest of the monthly cards, for passengers between 26 and 64 years old, will have a 40% discount on the usual price determined for the different zones. 

Thus, A is set at €32.70; B1 at €38.20; B2 at €43.20; and B3, C1 and C2 at €49.20. Meanwhile, 10-trip Metro, EMT and ML1 travel cards will now cost €7.30, with a 40% discount. 

These discounts are financed by the Community of Madrid, the other administrations belonging to the Regional Transport Consortium and the Ministry for Transport and Sustainable Mobility, benefiting the more than six million passengers who use the Madrid public transport network every day. 

In addition, the new prices for single tickets on intercity bus routes come into force this Tuesday. In order to simplify the fares, only two ranges are established: €1.50 for urban trips and €3 for all trips between two or more municipalities regardless of the distance travelled. Finally, payment by bank card is enabled to facilitate access to this service.
