Today, Metro de Madrid has launched new official products in the Metro Shop for the summer season. Specifically, together with the firm Polarbox, the Madrid underground has created a special edition of its legendary cooler, in this case designed with the twelve Metro lines. Available in two different sizes with a capacity of 6 or 12 litres, the cooler can be purchased in the Metro Shop for €36.95 for both the small and the large one. Like all Polarboxes, the Metro special edition has side buckles that enable the lid to be fastened, carried or slung over the shoulder, and the material inside ensures full thermal insulation. And what's more, the small size includes two Tupperware containers.

Alongside the cooler, Metro has also launched two other products designed for the summer. A new collection of fans, priced at €5.95, which comes in two different models: one decorated with the plane and the other with the characteristic Metro diamond, with a multicoloured pattern. And a practical beach bag, also designed with the map of Madrid's underground, which can be purchased for €6.95.

In addition to the new products, among the official Metro products that can be purchased for the summer are the coasters with the Metro lines; the Closca thermos bottles, with a capacity of 450 ml and which keep drinks cold for 12 hours; and the thermos glass with a straw and a capacity of 1,200 ml. And to have fun by the pool or at the beach, nothing better than the Fournier Spanish deck of cards, with the Metro map and logo on the back; or the mythical Rubik's cube, also customised with the colours of the underground lines.

NEW PRODUCTS AND NEW SHOP

So far this year, Metro has launched many products in its official shop that have led to an increase in turnover of 33% compared to the same period last year. The new products available now include sweatshirts and T-shirts with new prints, loudspeakers, headphones, mugs with innovative designs, as well as new designs for pens, pencils and markers, among a variety of products. A new line of T-shirts has also been launched for the little ones and the range of toys available has been extended with a cute teddy bear dressed as a Metro.

The public company also launched a number of limited edition products aimed at those who love the Madrid underground with original products from the stations themselves. The interest in this new range of 'Very Metro' products, with station slats, diamonds or track sections, has led to up to €1,000 being paid for one of their old diamonds removed from the stations. The slats in the stations near the main football stadiums in Madrid are among the most sought-after products and, in some cases, are sold out within hours of going on sale.

The success of Metro's products is so outstanding that the Community of Madrid is going to open a new physical shop at Ópera station in the coming months, which will be added to the two establishments that the Madrid underground already has at Sol and Plaza de Castilla stations. The new Metro shop, which will occupy about 70 square metres, will have a customer service area, a shop area with displays and shelving to showcase the products and a checkout area, as well as a warehouse.
