Regional Minister Rodrigo has inaugurated this parking area with 40 chargers and which increases the number of parking spaces to a total of 157. The remodelling work has increased the surface area by 25%, as well as providing a new lift and six places for people with reduced mobility. The metropolitan company has another park-and-ride facility at Miguel Hernández (Line 1) with 853 spaces on two floors, the second with direct access to the station hall.

The Community of Madrid has opened the largest charging point for electric vehicles in the Spanish capital's Nuevos Ministerios Metro station (Lines 6, 8 and 10), with a total of 40 fast-speed charging points. Its installation follows the remodelling of this parking area, which has increased the surface area by 25%, increasing the capacity from 142 to 157 spaces available.

This was detailed by the Regional Minister for Housing, Transport and Infrastructure, Jorge Rodrigo, during the inauguration of these facilities "designed for all those who, in addition to leaving their cars parked, wish to use the underground from this central point, helping to improve mobility and decongesting traffic", he stressed.

The Community of Madrid leads in Spanish registrations of electric vehicles. Thus, from January to June it totals 50,000, 45% of the whole country with an increase of +72% compared to the same period in 2024.

Rodrigo highlighted "the actions carried out by the regional government to facilitate the change from private vehicles to public transport at strategic points in the region, always offering the best service and continually increasing the offer, as is the case at this station, with an average of 185,000 passengers on a working day, one of the busiest on the underground".

The refurbishment works have included improvements in accessibility, thanks to the installation of a new lift and six places reserved for people with reduced mobility. Moreover, security and evacuation routes have been reinforced, and extraction and air renewal facilities have been adapted. The energy supplied to all charging points comes from 100% renewable sources.

The metropolitan company also has a park-and-ride car park with 853 spaces distributed over two floors at Miguel Hernández station (Line 1). On the first floor, there is direct access to the station hall during underground operating hours, i.e. from 6 am to 1 am. This is a strategically located car park in the Puente de Vallecas district, designed for drivers coming from outside to park their vehicles and continue their trip by public transport.
