Today, the Community of Madrid inaugurating two lifts at Avenida de América Metro station, which connect Calle María de Molina on the surface with the platforms of lines 4 and 6, to which a further eight lifts will be added in 2026. 

The metropolitan company is carrying out a global modernisation of this public transport hub, used by 190,000 passengers every day, with a new hall that will link with the intermediate level to the aforementioned lines and a gallery connecting with L7 and L9, with an investment of close to €57 million. It includes the improvement of the waterproofing, drainage and sanitation of the infrastructure, together with the replacement of materials with more resistant and efficient ones. 

The Metro network currently has 571 lifts and 1,709 escalators, making it one of the best in the European ranking and fourth in the world. 70% of its stations are fully accessible, guaranteeing autonomous and safe travel. 

In addition to Avenida de América, the regional government is also working on the installation of new lifts at Ventas (L2 and L5), Santiago Bernabéu (L10), Duque de Pastrana (L9), Campamento (L5), Carabanchel (L5), Tetuán (L1), Puente de Vallecas (L1), Ciudad Lineal (L5) and Canillejas (L5), which will be added to the seven that are already in service at Begoña station since June this year. Moreover, escalators will soon be installed in the street-verb section on San Blas (L7), Estrella (L9) and Prosperidad (L4).
