The Community of Madrid commemorates the centenary of the Ópera Metro station with the opening of a new official company shop on its facilities. It is a 70 square metre space which, like those already in operation in Sol and Plaza de Castilla, also has a Customer Service Centre (CSC) and offers users a wide range of articles related to the Madrid underground.
Today, the Deputy Regional Minister for Housing, Transport and Infrastructure, José María García, inaugurated this new point of sale, the third in the network, stressing that "it is a reflection of the good reception of this initiative and the reinforcement of the perception of the brand", while recalling that "sales of Metro products have increased by 63% so far this year compared to 2024, which confirms its success".
To celebrate the opening, the company has launched a limited edition Berbier watch with the underground logo and the colours of the twelve lines of the network. Only 50 units have been produced and will be sold exclusively at Ópera for €395. Another model, with interchangeable silicone straps in black, blue, red and yellow, will also be available for €120.
As a novelty, this shop incorporates a digital screen from which users can access a historical archive with more than 70 photographs of the Madrid Metro, select an image and instantly obtain a print as a souvenir.
In the coming months, the catalogue will be expanded with new additions, such as a renewed edition of the electric train with the design of the future carriages of Line 6, a new model of the Christmas jumper and a Madrid version of the classic board game Monopoly.
Two new sales areas are also planned to be opened in The Nave de Motores de Pacífico and in the Chamartín exhibition of classic trains, thus consolidating Metro de Madrid's commercial and cultural expansion in its commitment to bringing its history and heritage closer to all citizens.
The most popular items so far this year are the iconic trainers commemorating the company's 105th anniversary, of which around 1,200 pairs have been sold, T-shirts, mugs, pins and toys, or the Metro tent, together with reproductions of the emblematic diamonds on the entrance gates.
