The Governing Council heard the proposal for the award of the technical assistance contract, which will have a four-year implementation period. Work will be carried out at night so as not to interfere with the regular service offered to passengers and thus ensure full availability of all lines during the day. Optimum train running levels will be maintained, reducing warnings and incidents on the network and avoiding vibrations, noise and wear and tear.

The Region of Madrid will allocate 10.9 million euros to comprehensive metro track maintenance so as to reinforce the safety and reliability of a network that is more than 300 kilometres long. The Governing Council today heard the proposal for the award of the technical assistance contract drawn up by the public company, structured in three separate contracts, with an implementation period of four years.

This amount is in addition to the 53 million euros recently approved for suburban train infrastructure maintenance. With both actions, the regional government reinforces its commitment to the modernisation of Metro de Madrid facilities, a network that is essential for the mobility of the more than 715 million people who used the service in 2024.

Work will begin in the next few days and will be carried out at night so as not to interfere with the regular service offered to passengers and thus guarantee full availability of all lines during the day.

This will maintain optimum train running levels, reducing warnings and incidents on the network and avoiding vibrations, noise and wear and tear, thus improving the reliability and durability of track conditions, as well as the quality and comfort of users during their journeys.
