The Community of Madrid revamps the image of the Metro stations near the Teatros del Canal and the CA2M with artistic proposals for these spaces
The regional government seeks to improve the travel experience of users and to disseminate and promote culture and leisure in the region. Photographs of the Spanish Ballet and El alcalde de Zalamea, among others, will welcome passengers at Canal station. The one in Móstoles Central will exhibit works from the Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo (CA2M), the only regional institution devoted exclusively to contemporary art.
The Community of Madrid, in collaboration with Metro de Madrid, has updated the setting of Canal station in honour of the works and artists who have performed on the stages of the neighbouring Teatros del Canal in recent years. For its part, the Móstoles Central station, located next to the Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo (CA2M), will soon be exhibiting pieces belonging to this institution.
Themed stations promote the use of public transport, improve the travel experience of users and contribute to the dissemination and promotion of culture and leisure in the region, as is already the case in La Latina, Estación del Arte, Retiro, Ríos Rosas, Portazgo and Arroyofresno stations.
Citizens can thus now enjoy images of the Spanish Ballet of the Community of Madrid and the play El alcalde de Zalamea at Canal station, a version of this masterpiece text of the Golden Age by Calderón de la Barca produced by the regional government for Teatros del Canal directed by José Luis Alonso de Santos, among other performing arts events linked to this cultural space.
On the other hand, the Móstoles Central station will be covered with plastic strips of some of the works of the CA2M, the only regional institution devoted exclusively to contemporary art, which brings together more than 3,000 pieces and is the repository of the ARCO foundation's collection of more than 400.
