The Community of Madrid inaugurates the Magic Christmas Train on Metro Line 3 with a performance by David Bisbal
The singer accompanied passengers on the initial route of the themed train to Plaza de España station. Father Christmas and his elves will join this special trip every Friday, weekend and public holiday until 24 December and, from 26 December, will be joined by the pages of Their Majesties the Three Kings. In addition, users will be able to enjoy performances by Gospel Choirs, a large Nativity scene at the Caños del Peral Museum and different shows for children. Regional Minister García Martín presented the programme of free activities that the company has prepared for the holidays.
Today, the Community of Madrid inaugurated the Magic Christmas Train, which this year will run on Line 3 until 6 January, with David Bisbal as the special sponsor. The singer performed two of his carols and accompanied the first passengers on the initial trip, between the stations of Sol and Plaza de España, on this themed train.
The Regional Minister of the Presidency, Justice and Local Administration, Miguel Ángel García Martín, also took part in this inaugural trip, during which he presented the programme of free activities that the metropolitan company has prepared for these special dates.
"In a region that greatly enjoys Christmas, and which each year attracts thousands of visitors to enjoy the Christmas lights, go shopping or meet up with family and friends, Metro offers a fast, comfortable and reliable transport alternative, making it the best option for getting around during the festive season", he added.
On this occasion, the train will be specially decorated, with lighting and plastic strips both inside and outside, inspired by traditional elements such as nutcrackers, bows, baubles and other typical decorations. In addition, Father Christmas and his elves will join the trip every Friday, weekend and public holiday until 24 December.
From 26th to 5th January, the pages of Their Majesties the Three Kings from the East will accompany passengers on line 3. Metro de Madrid will provide daily information on the route and approximate timetable on its social media accounts.
The Madrid underground company has designed a special programme this year in which the stars are the youngest passengers. As part of the AulaMetro activities, children from 32 schools in the region will be able to attend a children's show at El Casar station and take part in a themed route between the station and Almendrales, accompanied by Christmas characters.
In Ópera, the Association of Nativity Scene Makers of Madrid will be in charge of the creation, design and composition of the Nativity Scene that will be exhibited during the festivities in the Caños del Peral Museum. Passengers who are music lovers will also be able to enjoy, free of charge, a magnificent Gospel Choir that will perform on 17, 18, 19 and 20 December at Canal, Chamartín, Puerta del Sur and Móstoles Central stations.
A new edition of the Metro Christmas jumper has also been on sale since 17 November. It can be purchased on www.latiendademetrodemadrid.com, in the official shops in Sol, Plaza de Castilla and Ópera, or in the commercial spaces recently opened to the public in the exhibition of classic trains at Chamartín station and the museum of Nave de Motores de Pacífico.
