The Community of Madrid celebrates Christmas at Metro with a historic train simulator, carol concerts and a large Nativity Scene

The Community of Madrid celebrates Christmas at Metro Museums with a special programme designed for the little ones, with a simulator of three historic scenes, carol concerts and a large Nativity Scene, and an schedule of activities full of culture, technology and history from 5 December until 6 January.

The Nave de Motores de Pacífico will host the Metro Cómic exhibition, with a unique overview of how this format has dialogued with urban transport, bringing together publications in which the underground is the star, as well as initiatives in cartoons that have been used to inform or accompany passengers. This exhibition includes Metrographies. Stories of Metro, energy and Madrid, an interactive project promoted by the company to raise awareness of its origins and heritage.

In the Caños del Peral Museum, located in the Ópera station, the main attraction will be a large Nativity Scene made up of large figures from the Olot school, renowned for its quality and heritage value, produced by the Association of Nativity Scene Makers of Madrid. A concert of traditional Christmas carols will be held at the same venue on 19 December.

This year, the Chamartín museum space will once again feature the successful Historical Metro Simulator, which enables visitors to drive classic trains and tour the first stations of the Alfonso XIII Metropolitano by means of 3D recreations. From 19 December to 7 January, visitors will be able to step back in time thanks to this recreation that includes the original trains of the early 20th century. And the photographic exhibition Vestigia will be on display. Traces of a forgotten past, which offers a unique retrospective through 88 black and white snapshots.

All visits are completely free of charge, upon registration on the website museosmetromadrid.es, a platform where users can also immerse themselves in a virtual tour of the history of Madrid's underground, relive past exhibitions and be amazed by immersive experiences that will enable them to discover places that no longer exist.
