The Community of Madrid participates in the Three Wise Men's parade with a float inspired by the new driverless trains on Metro's L6 line
This is the second time that the Madrid underground has taken part in this traditional event, following its premiere in 2024. The characters from the children's story El viaje de Rombo (Diamond's Journey) will be the main characters in the parade, in which the colours blue and gold predominate. A group of 60 employees of the company, dressed in the new edition of the Christmas jumper, will hand out sweets to the attendees. On the eve of the holiday, a special scheme will be activated which will increase frequencies on lines 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 10.
The Community of Madrid will take part in the Three Wise Men's parade on 5 January in the Spanish capital with a float inspired by the new driverless trains on Metro's L6 line. The design is based on the prototype of the future trains, which was presented to the public last April in an exhibition in the Plaza de Colón.
The stars of the parade will be the characters of the children's story El viaje de Rombo (Diamond's Journey), an initiative created to teach children about the main characteristics of the Madrid underground and to encourage their responsible use. Alongside them, a group of 60 company employees will be handing out sweets to those attending, dressed in the new edition of Metro's popular Christmas jumper, which went on sale a few weeks ago.
The float, in which the corporate blue and gold colours predominate, is 18 metres long and almost four metres wide, and focuses on the technological innovation of the metropolitan company, which has more than a century of history in Madrid. This will be the second occasion on which Metro de Madrid joins the Parade of Their Majesties the Three Wise Men, following its participation in 2024, when it paid tribute to the architect Antonio Palacios, author of the first stations and some of the most emblematic areas of the underground network.
To facilitate travel for both locals and tourists, the regional government will activate special scheme on the eve of Epiphany, which will include an increase in the frequency of trains on lines 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10, coinciding with the time slots when the highest volume of trips to shopping and leisure areas is expected.
This reinforcement of the service is part of the Christmas campaign that Metro de Madrid has launched for Christmas and which will continue until 6 January. During these dates, the stations also have more support and information staff and security guards.
