The Community of Madrid completes 60% of the modernisation and accessibility work at Ventas Metro station
These works, with an investment of €19 million, are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026. The refurbishment includes the installation of five lifts and the complete renovation of the main hall and all entrances and corridors. In addition, the electrical installations have been upgraded and obsolete communication technology has been replaced with new intercoms, public address systems and digital signage. The regional government will open up a historic space, closed to the public since 1970, which will become part of the underground museum circuit.
The Community of Madrid has already completed 60% of the modernisation and accessibility works at the Ventas Metro station on lines 2 and 5 of the network. The works, with an investment of more than €19 million, are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026 with the installation of five lifts and a complete renovation of the main hall, accesses and corridors.
During these months, the building has also been replaced with more modern materials and equipment, as well as with obsolete electrical installations and technology. These new features will facilitate not only the future maintenance of the facilities, but also communication with users, for which new intercoms are being installed, public address systems are being improved and digital signage is being installed.
Taking advantage of this remodelling, at the beginning of the year the company will begin to refurbish an old hall that had been closed to the public since 1970 and which, once completed, will form part of the Metro Museum circuit together with other historic jewels of the underground system such as the Chamberí ghost station or the Nave de Motores de Pacífico.
Ventas is one of the most emblematic Metro stations in Madrid and one of the busiest. More recently, in October 2025, it set a historic record with 1,174,474 users and an average of 37,000 passengers on a working day, even exceeding 50,000 uses when events are held in the bullring.
