The Prosperidad and San Blas stations are already equipped with these features, and Estrella will install them next July. The project involves an investment of €3.5 million and will be fully operational by early September. In addition, work is continuing on the installation of a further 48 lifts at 13 locations across the network, including 15 with direct access from the street to the platforms. Since 2023, the regional government has allocated more than €228 million to the installation of 65 lifts to improve accessibility.

The Community of Madrid is continuing to make progress with the implementation of the Metro Accessibility Plan through the installation of escalators, which make it easier for passengers to get around and improve connections between public roads, station concourses and platforms.

As part of this development, Prosperidad station (L4) has, as of this Monday, two new escalators connecting the street level to the concourse, completing the existing route to the platforms. Meanwhile, at San Blas (L7), work is progressing on the installation of three new sections — two between the street and the passenger concourse, and another between the mezzanine level and the platforms — whilst the installation of the two planned for Estrella (L9) will begin next July.

The project, with a budget of €3.5 million, will be completed in early September and will expand a network that already comprises 1,709 escalators, reinforcing the Community of Madrid’s commitment to more accessible and comfortable public transport.

Since 2023, the regional government has allocated more than €228 million to the installation of 65 lifts to improve accessibility. Notable among the projects that are already completed are Avenida de América, with ten new lifts and a new concourse, and Begoña, which is now a 100% accessible station.

In addition, work is continuing to add a further 48 at 13 locations across the network, including 15 with direct access from the street to the platforms in Tetuán, Puente de Vallecas, Ciudad Lineal, Carabanchel, Campamento and Canillejas. Renovation work is also progressing at Ventas, which will be completed in 2026 with five new lifts, and at Santiago Bernabéu, where the comprehensive refurbishment will be finished in 2027 with 12 panoramic lifts, 24 escalators and a floor area that will almost triple the current size. In addition to these projects, work is also underway in Ventilla, Duque de Pastrana and Alto de Extremadura.
