The Community of Madrid will carry out improvement works at Cuzco Metro station whilst Line 10 is closed due to the comprehensive refurbishment of Santiago Bernabéu station. Consequently, the suspension of the service on Line 10 will be extended to include Cuzco station from 4 July until the end of August, meaning that the section between Nuevos Ministerios and Plaza de Castilla will be closed. 

During the works, which have a budget of €1.7 million (including VAT), the opportunity will be taken to carry out waterproofing work on the infrastructure. In addition, asbestos will be removed from the station’s vault and from several technical rooms. Passengers affected by the station closure can use a special, free bus service, which already covers the route between Nuevos Ministerios and Plaza de Castilla. Once work at this station has been completed, the suspension of the service on Line 10 will resume between Nuevos Ministerios and Cuzco until the end of the year, with the special bus service continuing to operate throughout. 

The Community of Madrid is continuing to make progress on the comprehensive refurbishment project for the Santiago Bernabéu, which is now nearly 45% complete. Now that the excavation work beneath the roof slabs of the hall and intermediate levels has been completed, work is currently underway on the slab for the new intermediate level between floors. This level is very close to the vault of the original station, and once its structure is complete, demolition of the original station will begin.

With an investment of €66 million, the future Santiago Bernabéu station will be fully accessible thanks to the installation of 12 new lifts and 24 escalators. In addition, the available space will triple, increasing from 4,843 square metres to over 12,400, which will enable the venue to meet user demand, which is particularly high on match days and during events. The redesign of the space will improve the experience for citizens, with more agile access from the street to the platform, by replacing the corridors with a large hall from which the intermediate levels and the arrival of trains can be seen. In 2025, the infrastructure counted nearly 4 million admissions, with more than 34,000 passengers on days with major events.

The regional government’s aim is to unveil this new design during the first quarter of 2027, to coincide with the 125th anniversary of the club’s founding and the 80th anniversary of its stadium.
