MADRING will be the World Championship circuit with the best public transport links.

The Community of Madrid is encouraging fans to use the Metro to travel to the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix, which will take place from 11 to 13 September in MADRING. Through a campaign shared on the circuit’s social media channels, Spanish driver Carlos Sainz, the event’s ambassador, highlights the speed, comfort and efficiency of the underground as the best way to get to the race. The regional government’s aim is for more than 80% of attendees to use public transport during the weekend of the event.

To this end, the metropolitan transport company will put in place a special transport plan to boost the Metro service during the three days of competition. The operation will include an increase in the number of trains in service and in staff numbers at the busiest stations, in order to ensure smooth travel for the thousands of spectators attending the Grand Prix.

For this campaign, Carlos Sainz travelled along Metro Line 8, between Nuevos Ministerios and Feria de Madrid, timing the journey from the platform to his arrival at the venue. The driver completed the journey in under nine minutes, demonstrating that the underground will be the quickest, most comfortable and most reliable option for thousands of fans to reach the venue. The video ends with a tongue-in-cheek remark from Sainz himself, pointing out that the only people who will have to travel by car are the drivers.

MADRING will be the best-connected circuit in the Formula 1 World Championship in terms of public transport, making the Community of Madrid an international benchmark for mobility at major sporting events. As well as having a Metro station right next to the venue, it will also have a comprehensive public transport network comprising city buses and commuter trains, enabling spectator flows to be managed efficiently and reducing journey times to and from the venue.

Fans will also have access to personalised information on the best routes based on the location of their tickets, as well as digital tools to help them plan their journeys.
