More than 400,000 passengers have travelled on the Spanish national team’s themed train since the start of the tournament

This Sunday, the Community of Madrid will be increasing services on lines 2, 4, 6 and 10 this Sunday to make it easier for Madrid residents travelling to both the Madrid Arena and the Plaza de Colón to watch the broadcast of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final.

The biggest increase in services will take place at the end of the match, when the underground will run twice as many services as on a typical Sunday to facilitate travel for the thousands of fans expected to attend. Before the final kicks off, the number of trains will increase by between 25% and 50%.

Furthermore, more than 400,000 passengers have already travelled on the train devoted to the Spanish national football team, which has been running on Metro Line 4 since the start of the World Cup.

This special train, decorated with images of some of the Spanish national team’s most iconic players, has brought the World Cup atmosphere to thousands of passengers over the past few weeks.

With this initiative and the planned additional services for the championship’s decisive match day, Metro de Madrid is once again playing its part in major events that attract large crowds, with the aim of ensuring efficient and safe mobility for all Madrid’s residents..
