Special World Champions edition of Spanish national team T-shirt

The exclusive, limited-edition version has sold out both in the online shop and in physical shops. The shirt, which sold out in a matter of hours, features the two stars denoting two-time champions on the number 2 shirt. Sold for €29.95, it features the names of the two finalists, the date and the venue of the World Cup final. T-shirts inspired by five historic national teams are still on sale.

Metro de Madrid has sold out in record time all the units of the special “World Champions” edition of its T-shirt, inspired by the Spanish national team, which went on sale following the national side’s victory in the 2026 World Cup. The commemorative item, which was sold for €29.95, sold out within a few hours both in the online shop and at the retail outlets at Ópera, Plaza de Castilla and Sol stations.

To celebrate this historic victory by the Spanish national team, Metro has revived the original design of the Line 2 jersey with an exclusive version featuring the two World Cup stars above the number 2 – a nod to the two World Cup titles won by the Spanish national team.

Among other commemorative details, the shirt features, beneath Metro’s iconic diamond logo, the names of the two finalists, the date the championship was won and a reference to New York, the city that hosted the final. The back of the shirt has also been redesigned to celebrate this sporting achievement, making the shirt a unique keepsake for football fans and collectors. In particular, the shirt features the two World Cup stars and the caption “Campeones del Mundo 2026” (2026 World Champions), a tribute to the Spanish national team’s success. This special edition retains the distinctive features of the Metro FC collection, including the crest inspired by Metro’s historic diamond logo and several details from the underground system incorporated into the design.

Through this initiative, Metro de Madrid has sought to celebrate, alongside the people of Madrid and football fans, one of the greatest successes in Spanish sport, adding this limited edition to other initiatives the company has launched to mark the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

At the end of May, before the tournament began, Metro launched the “Metro FC” collection of retro football shirts, a range inspired by five of the World Cup’s most historic national teams: Argentina, Brazil, Germany, France and, of course, Spain. Each shirt is made from elastane, comes in a range of colours and designs, and all five share two common features: the embroidered Metro FC crest, based on the iconic 1921 Metro diamond – the first to feature the distinctive blue square – and the seven stars of the Community of Madrid. Meanwhile, throughout the World Cup, Metro de Madrid has been running the “National Team” train on Line 4, which is wrapped in red and features images of some of the Spanish national team’s most iconic players.

This isn’t the first time a product from the Metro Shop has sold out in record time. In December 2025, the 200 limited-edition track sections from Metro Line 6, which had been put up for sale after being removed from the site, also sold out in record time. The exclusive high-end watch launched by the metro operator and the trainers designed by Tito Customs to mark the company’s 105th anniversary also sold out within a few hours.
